Reimagine Fashion: A Journey of Integrated Study and Learning

9:00am - 10:00am

Fashion is an integral part of society, culture, economy, and the daily lives of everyone, reflecting people’s values, beliefs, and identities and influencing perceptions, emotions, and well-being. In this talk, Dr. Tracy Mok will share her work on computer-aided fashion creation and realization, adopting an integrated approach through industry and university collaborations.

AI-generated designs or products may be visually attractive but not necessarily practical or feasible to produce. The efforts to close the gap between digital twins and physical products can bring enormous new business opportunities to the industry. By engaging and empowering users to design and choose clothes that make them feel good, fashion can boost wearers’ mood and improve their overall quality of life. Moreover, taking advantage of being worn by people all day and often next to the body surfaces, fashion products and accessories can be engineered to offer additional functions, e.g., real-time health monitoring or medical and rehabilitation treatments, leaving users to reimagine and redefine what fashion is.
