IoT Thrust Seminar | Optimizing Vehicle-Centric Networked Systems: Elastic Demand Adaptation in Dynamic Environments

2:00pm - 3:00pm
Offline venue: E3-202, Zoom ID: 872 2197 5141, Passcode: iott

Nowadays, vehicles have become a crucial part of our lives, and there's a growing focus on making them more electric and intelligent for the future. However, the dynamically changing real world presents significant challenges for the realization of electric and intelligent vehicles, particularly in areas such as EV charging, in-vehicle entertainment, and autonomous driving. In this talk, we'll explore how networking technology can help gather information from devices across different locations and manage distributed control across vehicle-centric networks. Specifically, we will discuss strategies for coordinating networked charging ports to maximize charging efficiency, considering elastic charging demand and dynamic electricity prices. We will also examine methods for adapting encoding bitrates for optimal QoE in video streaming, considering elastic video demands and dynamic wireless networks. Additionally, we will explore approaches for balancing accuracy and latency by coordinating video compression rates for networked UAVs to meet elastic analysis demands and dynamic video content. Lastly, we'll touch on potential future directions, including how energy, entertainment, and autonomous capabilities might merge in the years to come.
