Professor Stuart Gietel-Basten (SOSC, HKUST) will discuss his recent book, The Population Problem in Pacific Asia, one of first to look in-depth at the issue of low fertility in Pacific Asia.
A lively speaker, he will use qualitative and quantitative data and examples from newspapers and other media as he addresses such questions as , “Why does the “two-child ideal” turn into a “one-child intention?” and whether the two-child policy is China’s “silver bullet”.
