Project C - Connect x Community - Mapathon @HKUST (Fall 2020)
HKUST Connect is organizing a Mapathon, an amazing opportunity for volunteers to digitally connect and map the most vulnerable places in the developing world so that locals and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) can use these maps and data to better respond to crises affecting these areas. Volunteers will be comparing satellite images and adding buildings to a shared online map which will then be made available for all humanitarian organizations worldwide.
現今科技一日千里，但許多發展中地區在地圖上仍然是一片空白。由於缺乏比較精準的地圖，許多人道救援組織都未能及時了解這些地區的人口和建築物分佈，以致難於掌握災情及策劃救援行動。有見及此，科大侍學行現正招募義工參與繪製數碼地圖，安在家中，透過在衞星圖片尋找建築物，將這些消失的國度重現於地圖之上，為救援作好準備。
