LLC iVillage - Diwali (Festival of Lights) Rangoli art night

One of our cultural communities in Hong Kong is the Indian community, they play an important role in the Hong Kong community. Do you know what important festival they celebrate? Currently they are celebrating Diwali (Festival of Lights).

Diwali is the festival of lights in India, it’s the celebration of the return of Lord Ram from his 14 years exile. His people lit oil lamps to guide his way back to the country. It celebrates the triumph over the dark and evil, this also marks the New Year for most Indians. This festival is celebrated by wearing traditional clothes, gathering with family & friends, eating sweets, bursting crackers, and making rangolis.

Come to learn and celebrate Diwali! Hosted by our LLC iViilage Organizing Committee, it will be an authentic fun Indian evening by making your own Rangoli (Indian sand art) and have a taste of traditional Indian snacks. Ready to get your hands full of colors!

Residents from all cultural backgrounds are welcomed! It is a great way to learn about this traditional festival and also one of our Hong Kong's minority culture through art and food!
