Research Grants Council (RGC) is now inviting applications for General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme (ECS) 2021/22.  The Call for Proposals and relevant application guidelines can be accessed through the website of the Research Office.

Eligibility

For GRF, full-time academic staff in staff grades from “Assistant Lecturer” to ‘Professor’ that are wholly funded by HKUST may apply.  For academic staff who are in first three years of a full-time substantiation track/tenure track position as an Assistant Professor or career equivalent involving teaching and research duties may apply for ECS.

Application

Applicants please read the Explanatory Notes for GRF/ECS carefully before completing the application forms.  Details on the funding schemes are available at the RGC’s website for GRF and ECS.  All applications must be submitted through the RGC Electronic System.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

All applications must be submitted for first-level vetting (endorsement from Department Head) through the RGC Electronic System by the internal deadlines.  Incomplete applications should not be submitted.  Kindly refer to the FAQ if you encounter issues with the RGC system.

NO application will be accepted by the RGC System beyond 14 October 2020. No provision of editing service will be provided for late submission.

Internal deadlines for submission to RO
* 7 Oct 2020 – for applications requesting English editing from RO
* 14 Oct 2020 – Final deadline and for applications which do not require English editing from RO
