Green Trekker Week: Upcycling your way to sustainability! (11 - 15 Nov)

Green Trekker Week is back on 11th to 15th Nov (Mon to Fri) this year! With up-cycle art events, sustainable fashion show and green cooking & food sharing event, Green Trekker Program aims to promote material conservation and up-cycling of textile and waste in the hall community. Day 1: Table for YOU! Anti-Food Waste Kitchen

Date: 11 Nov 2019 (Mon)

Time: 19:00-21:00

Venue: Multi-purpose room, 1/F, UG Hall II

Participants were invited to bring along fresh ingredients, canned and packaged food (before the expiry date) from their kitchens, in exchange for an enjoyable time with a refreshing meal and living experience sharing. The leftover ingredients collected from hall residents will be transformed into delicious meals prepared by Green Trekker Team.

 

Day 2: Eco-Enzyme Workshop

Date: 12 Nov 2019 (Tue)

Time: 19:00-21:00

Venue: Multi-purpose room, G/F, UG Hall VIII

Green Trekker members will teach participants to make a green, chemical-free enzyme detergent, which is a great way to live a green lifestyle, make the best of domestic food waste and save money. Please bring a plastic bottle to the workshop.

 

Day 3 Sustainable Fashion Show

Date: 13 Nov 2019 (Wed)

Time: 19:00-21:00

Venue: Multi-purpose hall, G/F, UG Hall VII

Participants of the Sustainable Fashion Design Workshop will showcase their sustainable and up-cycled designs on the runway, join this event to celebrate creative fashion design, promote up-cycling and sustainability in the hall community. Dinner will be provided.

 

Day 4: Dyeing Experience by Food Waste Colour Workshop

Date: 14 Nov 2019 (Thu)

Time: 19:00-21:00

Venue: Multi-purpose room, G/F, UG Hall VIII

Make your own Shibori tie-dye(混色絞染) or Itajime(絞染) A3 tote bag or Furoshiki(風呂敷) by using fresh food waste colours from purple cabbage, yellow from onion and ginger, purple from sweet potato, brown from tea and coffee and pink from sakura wood. Refreshments will be provided.

 

Day 5: Jars and Glass Bottle Up-cycling Workshop

Date: 15 Nov 2019 (Fri)

Time: 14:00-17:30

Venue: Reslife Lounge, Rm UG 01, UG Hall IX

Any jars and glass bottles can be polished to become something good-looking and useful. Bring your favorite containers to this workshop and let’s DIY together with the Green Trekker Team.

No previous experience needed. Refreshments will be provided.
