Cultural Buddy Program - Visiting refugees and asylum seekers in Chungking Mansions
Have you heard of Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui? Have you heard about the rumors that it is the most dangerous place in Hong Kong? Do you know what exactly is inside except of traditional India Curry or cheap priced hotels? Actually, there are a lot of refugees and asylum seekers living in.
Christian Action believes that everyone has a right to seek refuge from persecution, which they may be facing in their country of origin. The Centre for Refugees was established at Chungking Mansions in 2004, and is the first and only community centre for refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong.
The visit includes interactive workshop on refugee issues followed by a detailed tour of the Centre for Refugees, the only community center for refugees in Hong Kong, located in Hong Kong’s famous Chungking Mansions. We will also enjoy a lunch with refugees together at HK’s only soup kitchen for refugees.
